"The choices we make when we're young cast a long shadow on our futures." That's a paraphrased quote I often use in Human Growth and Development as we study young adulthood. The purpose is to encourage students to consider how the decisions and behaviors of their 20s and 30s might affect the quality of their middle and later adult years. Does anyone have any ideas to share...or perhaps a personal experience that changed the course of your life?

I can trukly say that from personal experiences that the choices that I made yesterday and today can change the course of my life. Looking back on the choices that I did make, a lot of them were bad, but they were made out of no win situations. Foe example, my move to SC in 1995 after my mother died. I could've stayed in NY with my maternal side of the family, but I really hated them. Instead, I moved to SC with my stepfather, and we never even communicated. He just gave me money. It was a no win situation, because now 12 years later, I feel that I am doomed to be stuck in this state forever. If I had my way and could do it all over again, I would've stayed in NY, but somewhere where my family couldn't find me.

I forgot to add that the choices we make TODAY will affect tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. Does this make you think about moving back to NY? From what I've learned about you in class, you seem like a strong, gutsy gal who isn't "doomed to be in this state forever."
